dogs hate jazz is the brainchild of me, rhonda zack. i have a fine arts degree from a prestigious east coast university (ok, it's a public school, but prestigious east coast university sounds better). for the last fourteen years i've been practicing architecture in the raleigh/durham area until the building industry collapsed in 2008. since then, i established a temporary consulting firm called take five design to offer design services for local architects or people who need help on small design projects. in addition, to keep the creative juices flowing and to help out some less tech-savvy friends in need of websites, i taught myself how to build websites. having seen so many truly awful sites on the internet, it seemed like it really couldn't be that hard. now that i've done a few, there seems to be no end to the people who keep asking me to help with theirs. so here i am...
dogs hate jazz got its name when one day after a few months of unemployment, i made the observation that everytime i played jazz on the radio (which was often), one of my dogs would jump up, stare at the speakers, hang his head, and skulk out of the room. i made the comment to my husband "dogs hate jazz" and it seemed to keep coming up in conversation. i liked the sound of it and thought it would be fun to do a branding package based on it which eventually turned into this web design company. obviously, not ALL dogs hate jazz. just mine. he also hates world music, which my husband listens to frequently, and frankly, i happen to agree with the dog on that one.
